Workshops for Establishment of Institutional Ethical Review Committees

     

     Workshop for Establishment of Institutional Ethical Review Committees:

      PMRC being the NBC Secretariat has the function to help institutions in the country to establish

      Institutional Ethical Review Committees (IERC).

      A 2 day workshop was held with the assistance of WHO EMRO where about 20 participants from 10

      public health and medical institutions of the country and 13 PMRC officers were trained. Following

      training, all 10 institutions who participated have formulated their IERCs, which have been notified to

      WHO EMRO. Second round of trainings has being done in year 2007, about 70 participants from the

      public health and medical institutions of the three major cities of the country.

      Research Methodology Workshops throughout the Country:

       Pakistan Medical Research Council had organized two days workshops on research methodology

       proposal writing in the major cities of the Country in 2006-07. In 2006, 6 work shops were conducted

       in which 139 health professionals were trained, while in 2007 3 work shops were conducted in which

       69 professionals were trained. The aim of these workshops is to train and build the capacity of health

       professionals in research methodology and research proposal development and motivate them to

       undertake research on national health problems. Over 200 health professionals and researchers

       from PMRC Centres and other Institutions participated in these workshops conducted at Islamabad,

       Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Jamshoro and Quetta.
