TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC)
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of the Pakistan Medical Research Council (PMRC) has initially been constituted for a period of three years i.e. from July 2003 to June 2006. The serving period of the Committee is by rotation for one year and it consists of 8 members (one-third Conveners of Expert Panels), including the Executive Director of the Council.
• THE TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) OF THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC):
1. To recommend to the Board through Executive Director for approval of research and development projects/programmes and strategic plans of the Council, along with the related budget estimates of these activities;
The Committee's recommendations shall be guided by review of the programmes and plans by experts in the specific fields under consideration;
2. To review outcome of research supported by the Council and utilization of the research by the health and related sectors;
3. To render advice and report on any technical matter referred to it by the Council;
4. To identify and recommend to the Board through Executive Director suitable candidates for appointment as Fellows, Scholars and Associates;
5. To develop and recommend to the Board appropriate policies for the support of the research activities undertaken by the Council, including policies relating to inter-institutional relationship;
6. To act as a primary medium of communication (liaison) between the Council and the research/academic community, informing the Board of issues, problems and research opportunities and in turn, helping to foster understanding within the research/academic community of the Council's aims and activities.
• MEETINGS OF THE TAC:
The meetings of TAC shall be convened as and when required by the Executive Director PMRC and shall be presided over by the Chairman, TAC.
• THE CHAIRMAN/CHAIRPERSON OF THE TAC:
The Chairman / Chairperson of the Committee shall be elected by the members of the Technical Advisory Committee.

PMRC TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (TAC) 2007-2010
The 1st meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of PMRC was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the PMRC Head Office, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Awais, Pro-vice Chancellor & Prof. of Orthopedic Surgery, K.E.M.U. Lahore chaired the meeting.
Total 19 projects were presented, which included 15 routine projects (each project within the range of Rs. 200,000/-) and 04 projects under Dr. S. J. Zuberi Research Grant (within the range of Rs.0.5 Million). Total 12 projects were approved, which included 11 routine projects and 01 project under Dr. S. J. Zuberi Research Grant.
