LINKAGES
PMRC has well-established linkages within country and abroad. Through the member-ship of its Board of Governors the Council is linked with health sector policy-makers, planners and decision-makers at the highest level of authority. Also funders of research and academicians have representation on the Board. Leading health professionals are included in the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Expert Panels to advise the Council on technical matters, priority setting in research and development of research agenda. The research centres of the Council, which are located in medical under-graduate, and postgraduate institutions link the Council with academicians all over the country and give the Council's researchers access to available resources for health research in the country.
The Council has in recent years established links with international health research organizations like the Commission on Health Research for Development (COHRED), the Global Forum for Health Research, the Alliance on Health research for Policy and WHO. Successful collaboration in research has been undertaken with the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) and the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. The Executive Director PMRC is a member of the WHO/EMRO Advisory Committee on Health Research and is participating in EMRO'S recent surge of activity in the field of health research. The Council completed joint studies with Johns Hopkins University and the Concerted Action Project coordinated by the Department of Hygiene and Public Health, Hiedelberg University in the year 2001.
